The draft tells you how to compare age assurance systems. The comparison record is the work.
ISO/IEC DIS 27566-3 sets out what to consider when you analyse, compare or differentiate age assurance systems or components. It is in ballot, the body is not public, and the people who will have to use it are procurement teams, test houses, regulators and the providers they assess. This site reads the published framework and the public working material, maps what a comparison has to answer, and gives you a free check and a paid register.
Read from the real rules, not invented. Every answer on this site points to the rule behind it.

What the draft changes
It gives a buyer a common way to look at two age assurance systems and say what the difference means. Until now the market compared headline percentages that were measured on different samples, at different thresholds, with different definitions of a pass.
What it does not do
It does not certify a system, rank a vendor or create a deadline. It is a guidance document in ballot. No certificate expires when it is published, and no regulator has adopted it. The buying trigger is the procurement or review that needs a defensible comparison, not a transition audit.
What the work is
Fix the object, name the decision, choose the indicator and threshold, collect the practice statements, size the sample, test accuracy, equality, binding and attack resistance, and publish the claim with the method. The register on this site turns that into rows you can assign.
01The free check
Is the draft's subject your task, and what is missing?
Nine answers about your role, the comparison, the indicator and the evidence you hold. The check returns a verdict, three dated actions and the units to read. It is computed from this site's record, in your browser, and it states the rule it used.
- No account, no email, no upload.
- A blank or a past review date returns scope incomplete.
- It does not score a system or call anyone compliant.
02The paid kit
The comparison register, the test plan and the report template
USD 799 one off, as PDF, CSV and XLSX. 17 analysis units with the requirement, the practice, the evidence and the common gaps; the 37 framework clauses they build on; the five indicator thresholds; the sampling and test plan worksheet; the report template; and a dated plan to the planning date.
03The analysis in units
17 things a comparison has to answer
Each unit is one page, with the requirement in our words, the practice that satisfies it, the evidence an assessor asks for, the gaps that appear most often and the questions to put to a supplier.
| Code | Unit | Group |
|---|---|---|
| P3-01 | Name the object you are comparing | Scope the comparison |
| P3-02 | Name the decision the comparison feeds | Scope the comparison |
| P3-03 | Choose the benchmark basis | Scope the comparison |
| P3-04 | State the headline accuracy against an indicator | Indicators of effectiveness |
| P3-05 | Qualify accuracy with the age buffer | Indicators of effectiveness |
| P3-06 | Report continuous measures for an estimated age | Indicators of effectiveness |
| P3-07 | Report binary measures at the decision threshold | Indicators of effectiveness |
| P3-08 | Test equality across groups | Indicators of effectiveness |
Read from the real rules, not invented
The rules this is built from
Every answer ISO 27566-3 Revision Checker gives points to the official rule behind it, so you can check any line yourself.
The framework is ISO/IEC 27566-1:2025, published and free from ISO. The analysis units are read from the public working draft of the benchmarking part and the DRCF measurement report, cited on every page. The DIS body is not public, and no page here states it. Read the framework map.
04Before you buy
What this site will not tell you
It will not tell you which vendor is best. It will not reproduce the DIS text, because the DIS body is not public, and it will not pretend a percentage on a marketing page is a measurement. It will not call a system compliant, certified or approved, and it will not treat a draft threshold as a published requirement.
What it will do is show the question, the source and the evidence line for every row, so a buyer, a test house or a regulator can check the claim against the official text. Where the public record is silent, the page says so.
The honest position on the draft. The ballot closes on 4 December 2026. ISO has announced no publication date. This site uses 14 September 2027 as a planning estimate and labels it as an estimate on every page. A comparison run now is a planning comparison; the paid kit says so in its first page and is re-issued when the text is published.
05Questions
Straight answers
What is ISO/IEC DIS 27566-3?
It is a draft International Standard on the ways systems or components can be analysed, compared or told apart. It is at stage 40.20, the start of the enquiry ballot, and it is not published.
Is it the same as ISO/IEC 27566-1?
No. Part 1:2025 is the published framework, and ISO makes it available free of charge. Part 3 is the draft on analysis and comparison. This site reads the published framework clause by clause and the analysis material from the public working draft, because the DIS body is not public.
Does the draft apply to my organisation?
It applies to the task, not to a type of company. If you analyse, compare, procure or assess more than one age assurance system or component, the draft's subject is your task. If you run one system and never compare it, Part 1 and your regulator's rules matter more, and the free check will say so.
Does a certificate expire when it is published?
No. This is a guidance document, not a certifiable requirement standard. It creates no transition deadline and no certificate to renew. The planning date is for the programme, not for a certificate.
When will it be published?
ISO has announced no date. The ballot closes on 4 December 2026. This site uses 14 September 2027 as a planning estimate, taken from the stage and the BSI project timeline, and labels it as an estimate on every page.
What is in the kit?
The comparison register with 17 analysis units, the framework clause map with 37 clauses, the evidence list, the five indicator thresholds, the sampling and test plan worksheet, the report template and the dated plan, as PDF, CSV and XLSX, for USD 799 one off.
What does the watch do?
For USD 49 a month it emails the diff when the ISO stage, the dates, the public record, the framework or the benchmarking draft changes. The check that produces the diff is the same one this site runs.
Is this legal advice?
No. It is a reading of the published and public draft sources, with the citation on every line. It does not certify, audit or approve any system, and it is not affiliated with ISO or IEC.
